As we approach our 30th anniversary in September 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the journey that shaped Avocet Precision Metals, from a family-run strip stockholder in the UK to a globally trusted name in precision metals.

Since 1996, our mission has remained the same: to supply high-performance strip and wire materials with the consistency, traceability, and customer-first service that critical industries rely on.

To mark this milestone, we sat down with founder Graham Hall, who shared some thoughts on how it all began, and where we’re headed next.

“When I started Avocet in the mid-90s, I didn’t want to just sell metal. I wanted to build something that lasted. I came from a long line of steelmen, but I saw the industry changing.

“The early days were about knocking on doors, learning everything I could about customers’ processes, and making sure we delivered what we said we would. It wasn’t glamorous, but it worked.”

Growing with Purpose: Precision as a Promise

Over nearly three decades, Avocet Precision Metals has evolved alongside the industries we serve. From aerospace to medical, battery tech to electronics, our materials have supported cutting-edge innovations while staying rooted in craftsmanship and care.

Today, our product range includes:

Stainless steel strip in critical grades like 301, 304, and 316

Nickel alloy wire and strip for high-performance applications

Titanium and copper foils, including bimetals and battery tabs

Specialist products like precision pinning band and expanded metal foil

And while our offering has grown, the core values Graham instilled, trust, precision, and long-term relationships, still drive us every day.

What makes us different isn’t just what we supply, it’s how we work.

We’re still an independent, family-owned business, now led by Kieren Hall, the fourth generation of the Hall family in the steel industry. Our team includes materials scientists, engineers, and customer-focused sales specialists, all working to support our customers’ success, not just fulfil orders.

“When Kieren came into the business in 2012,” Graham shared, “he brought fresh energy and a deep respect for our roots. He’s taken Avocet from strength to strength, without losing what made us different in the first place.”
