PowerCan capacitor elements are cylindrical, manufactured in dry-wound metallised polypropylene (MKP) technology, available from 0.25kVAr to 25kVAr.
The compact dimensions and minimum IP2X protection rating of these capacitors makes them ideally suited to the individual power factor correction of motors. The space they occupy within a motor starter compartment is minimal.
The larger kVAr ratings are also suitable for use as the constituent elements of larger capacitor banks and automatic capacitor systems. Click here for full technical details.
The kVAr ratings of the PowerCan range are calculated at 415 volts, 3 phase 50Hz. These capacitors are suitable for continuous operation at voltages up to at least 450Vrms, at which they are still able to withstand the overvoltage requirements of BSEN-60831. This means that they can be used with detuning reactors on 415V systems. Larger, more expensive capacitors of higher voltage ratings specially selected for detuned applications are not required
