Co-extrusion uses two or more extrusion machines feeding a single die head, allowing multiple layers or materials to be combined into one finished product. Rayda Plastics uses this process where a customer needs a cost effective pipe, built from a lower cost second generation material for the bulk of the wall, with a thin first generation layer on the surface for a better finish. It also allows two different rigidity plastics to be combined on the same extrusion, such as a rigid structural section paired with a flexible seal or skirt, or several colours run together where a striped finish is required. It is a practical route to combining properties that a single material extrusion cannot deliver on its own.
