Injection Moulding Defect Prevention Techniques Simulation

Injection Moulding Defect Prevention Techniques Simulation

Preventing a defect before it happens is always more cost effective than fixing one after a full production run has already been affected. Andel Plastics uses simulation as a core defect prevention technique from our Birmingham facility, modelling how a proposed mould design will behave under real processing conditions to identify likely problem areas such as sink marks, voids or warping before any tooling is cut. This proactive approach lets our engineering team address a defect risk through design changes, gate repositioning or cooling adjustments while those changes remain relatively inexpensive to make. Simulation proves particularly valuable on components with complex geometry or variable wall thickness, where defect causes are rarely obvious from a drawing alone. Because simulation results feed directly into our in house toolroom, prevention measures identified through analysis translate straight into how the tool is actually manufactured.
For manufacturers who want defects prevented at the design stage rather than managed through costly rework later, this simulation based approach is exactly how we build that prevention in from the start.
