A component designed without ultrasonic welding in mind rarely welds as well as one where the joint has been considered from the start. Andel Plastics offers design support for ultrasonic welding projects, working with customers early in the process to adjust wall thickness, joint geometry and energy director placement so the finished weld is as strong and consistent as possible. This kind of input matters most on new product designs, where small changes made before tooling is cut can significantly improve weld quality and reduce the risk of rework further down the line. Our team draws on direct experience running welding alongside our own injection moulding facility and in house toolroom in Birmingham, so recommendations come from what actually happens in production rather than theory alone. Where a design genuinely cannot be adjusted, we develop bespoke welding horn technology to work with the geometry as it stands rather than compromising on joint quality.
