Post-Moulding Ultrasonic Joining
Post-Moulding Ultrasonic JoiningSome assemblies simply cannot be produced in a single mould, which is where a reliable post moulding joining process becomes essential rather than optional. Andel Plastics offers ultrasonic joining as a post moulding process from our Birmingham facility, fusing separately moulded components together into a finished assembly using high frequency vibration rather than adhesives or mechanical fasteners. This approach suits projects where overmoulding or single shot tooling would be impractical or prohibitively expensive, allowing individual components to be moulded more simply and then brought together afterwards. Because welding happens after moulding rather than during it, design changes and material choices retain more flexibility earlier in a project, without locking a manufacturer into a single, complex tool from day one. Supported by our own injection moulding facility and in house toolroom, post moulding joining can be scheduled straight after production, avoiding delay between the two stages.
For manufacturers designing assemblies that genuinely need to be built in more than one piece, this post moulding joining process is built to bring them together cleanly and reliably.
