Elbows

You can choose different configurations, including 45 degree for an easy change in flow, 90 degree for turns, or even 180 degree if the flow needs to turn back on itself.
Titanium is a very strong material but generally has low ductility. Critically, it doesn’t stretch a great deal and suffers from rapid work hardening. So, it is actually very difficult to bend and can crack. Tight bends are even harder to do. Therefore, it is generally best to use elbows rather than bending the tube itself.
Tees
Industrial tube systems can be incredibly complex. Often they branch all over the place. The most effective way to do this is to use tees. They are simple but very reliable. It’s wise to use titanium fittings if the branch connections and main lines are in corrosive environments.
An interesting thing here is you can choose two different configurations. The standard option is an equal tee. Here the main and branch pipes are the same sizes. If the branch has a smaller diameter, you need a reducing tee instead.
Reducers
If you need to connect tubes with different diameters, you can use reducers. Each side will be the relevant size for the diameter of the tube, providing a strong joint. You can choose concentric or eccentric configurations; the first maintains a consistent centreline whereas the latter shifts to one side.
Couplings
Some industrial tube systems cover incredibly long distances. To do this, it may be necessary to connect several sections. The easiest way to do it is to use couplings. It’s wise to use titanium fittings to ensure they have the same characteristics as the tube.
Adapters
One of the biggest challenges when you work with tubing is equipment can have various connection configurations. For example, they could be threaded or non-threaded. What you need to do here is choose suitable adapters. They will ensure you can effectively connect tubes to equipment and more.
Caps
In some situations it is necessary to close the end of a tube. It may only be temporary, such as for short term isolation or during construction. In others they are permanent to terminate a line. The best way to do it is to use a cap. Titanium is ideal for them because it is strong, durable, and corrosion resistant. However, you must ensure they meet the relevant standards to maximise safety.

A key thing you need to look at though is which grade of titanium to use. There are lots of options, each with different properties and costs. Grade 1, 2 and 4 are all commercially pure. They get gradually stronger, with the latter offering the most strength. Of them, Grade 2 has a great balance of properties.
Some applications will call for titanium alloys rather than CP grades. Grade 5 is the most common alloy, with more strength to ensure it can withstand mechanically demanding applications. Grade 7 has higher corrosion resistance, so is ideal if you’re dealing with corrosive chemicals. Finally, Grade 9 stands out because it provides a balance of strength and formability, making it easier to work with.
